Simply Perfect

We would like to welcome our daughter, Emily Reese to the world! She made her debut on January 5 at 7:43am weighing 7lbs 10oz and 21 inches long. The story of how she entered the world may not seem perfect, but it was exactly what I needed. The details would make this post ridiculously long(er) and I know the pictures are what everyone really wants! Here are the basics: my water broke at 1:15am on January 5th. By the time we reached the hospital and they got through some of the necessities and checked my cervix, I was already fully effaced and dilated to 10cm. We had planned on a c-section but in the back of my head I had decided if this situation happened, I'd like to try for a VBAC. So I did. I pushed for 30 minutes and couldn't push any longer without medication. I got the epidural and pushed for another 90 minutes with minimal progress. The doctor was great and worked with me to determine if there were other positions that might bring the baby through my pelvis...but again, like Aaron, she just wasn't going to fit. I ended up with another c-section, but am so at peace with my efforts and the outcome. Emily decided she was ready, I got to try again (and this time mostly medication free!), we're both healthy and my family is made even more perfect:) Life is good
Tired mommy, but happy family (minus big brother Aaron who was not allowed at the hospital due to visitation restrictions for the flu season).

Thanks to Josh's parents (who made the late night/early morning drive so we could go to the hospital) and my mom (who drove in before dawn!), Aaron was in good hands and got to enjoy their undivided attention...and a big brother gift;)
My mom drove in, as I mentioned, before dawn and on snowy/icey roads! Oh yeah, AND it was her birthday! She and Emily now share January 5th birthdays!
Here's Emily waiting for us to be discharged:
Aaron is a fantastic big brother so far. He keeps track of her whereabouts and is eager to help with whatever he can. He especially likes to point out her facial features...we're working on NOT pointing (poking) out her eyes. He's been so sweet and is handling things well!

He even helped lotion her after her bath. He is so sweet...
Our awake time is VERY minimal currently but after her bath, she was wide awake! We look forward to more awake time every day!
Oh, and did I mention all her dark hair? LOVE it:)

Oh my goodness--Stacie, I was just browsing by and couldn't believe it when I saw the baby pics!!! Ahh--congratulations! I must not have been keeping good track of Facebook or the blog!!!! For a moment I even thought she arrived on my b-day! So fun that, instead, she came on your mom's. Wonderful.

She is beautiful and scrumptious and I just love the thought of Aaron as a big bro. You all look fantastic! Many blessings and prayers.
