The day arrived...there were mixed emotions throughout the house but everyone was upbeat and positive as we worked to ready our firstborn for kindergarten. He has always had a difficult time separating from us for new things, such as preschool and organized sports, so we knew it wasn't going to be easy. He was happy all morning and even humored me for some great pictures...
And then, the nerves set in. I don't have any pictures of him getting ON the bus yet and we've had 7 days of school. He does well until the bus comes around the corner and then gets anxious. BUT, I'm happy to report that he always has a great day and that each day is better than the last!
But, back to the first day. I had hoped that promising some surprises would help him transition...and I think they did a little. After he went to school on day one, the girls and I headed out for some balloons and little toy "prizes" for Aaron. This is what he came home to the first three days...
And then we busied ourselves with some silliness waiting anxiously for him to come home!
And then, it was time! We all met him at the bus at pickup time...we were so eager to hear about his day!
Sweet grin...
I got a quick hug, but someone was eager to get home and check out his loot!
I hope he continues to enjoy his day. It is a hard transition for us all since he is in kindergarten all day, every day! We really like the school and his teacher seems very sweet. We are excited about this new phase of life!
