Brotherly advice...

After a busy weekend visiting family out of town, we headed home during nap time with the intention that the kids would sleep for much of the ride. Upon realizing that our plan was not the same as her plan, Emily complained in a very loud, whiny and persistent manner. There was nothing Mommy and Daddy could say to calm her down because she wanted to watch a show. We had told the kids that they could watch at 4:00 (hoping the time would come and go and they'd be asleep still) and it was only 1:30. Instead of continuing our efforts to rationalize with her, we just decided to let her cry/whine it out. Aaron, being the sweet boy that he is (most of the time), tried to talk her down. Among the things he said to her were:

--"Emily, Mommy said we could watch it at 4:00. You will know it is 4:00 because the show will come on."

--"Emily, you need to just look out the window and chill out."

--"Emily, you're not a baby anymore so you need to stop crying. You're two, so you're not [a baby]. Then you'll be three and you're not. Then four, and you're not. Then five, and you're not. Then six, and you're not. Then you'll be ten and after that, you're old!" HA! Daddy and I didn't realize it all started going downhill at ten!

Easter and more to come!
