One of Macie's final tests to allow her to come home was her car seat study. Still attached to her monitors, she had to be correctly seated in her car seat for 90 minutes without dropping her O2 saturation below 87%. We actually had to support her head with a couple of burp cloths...she was so tiny that the chest and seat buckles are all touching! She passed her first try! She was as ready as we were to come home!
On Monday, December 31, Macie's neonatologist made his daily call...the first thing he said was, "well, are you ready?" Absolutely! So we dressed up the kids in their big brother/sister scrubs. I ordered these prior to Macie's arrival anticipating the picture of Daddy and big bro/sis in their scrubs holding a freshly delivered baby. You may remember this was my same goal for Aaron with Emily's birth...and the same outcome. No such picture due to hospital restrictions on visitors! Oh well...

This is Mary Ellen, Macie's primary day nurse. She was a joy to have lead me through being a mother to my baby in the NICU environment.
