Orahood Family: Marco Island Part One

One of many hidden blessings behind Macie's early arrival was that we still got to take the annual convention trip for Josh's work! If she had come closer to her due date, we would have missed out! This year, we headed to Marco Island, Florida. The kids were excited as we waited for Daddy to unload the carseats (see him in the doorway?!).

This is how we roll through the airport...we have a great Daddy who does not complain!

And this is how Aaron rolls through the airport;) We bought a new stroller for Macie that has a seat on the back for the big kids...with Aaron on the suitcase, we were all covered!

First thing I did when arriving at our resort was take Macie's socks off and expose those sweet little feet to some warm air! Not sure how much she appreciated it..but I loved seeing her piggies!

And here is the first thing the kids did when we got to our room...well seasoned beach bums!

I was nervous about this trip because I wasn't sure how we were going to do sleeping in one room all together for a week, especially with a newborn...the kids were so exhausted by the end of the day that it didn't take long for them to pass out!

Macie was a champ! She went to bed really well every night...and slept for 4-5 hours several times when I didn't hear my phone alarm go off!

She also slept by the pool...

(look closely below...pretty relaxed, I'd say!)

And under an umbrella on the beach...

And, how torturous was this? She even got to sleep in Grandma Rene's arms in a rocking chair next to the pool on a deck over the beach! Grandma loved it too and had all kinds of Grandma envy from other resort patrons!

She also snoozed during dinners out...good baby:)

While Macie was sleeping...the "big" kids were swimming...and swimming...and swimming. I am not exaggerating when I say that they were in the pool from 10:30am-4:30pm every day getting out only to eat lunch and use the restroom. Only twice did we spend half of the day playing on the beach!

Definitely my girl...she loves olives! No doubt they taste even better in the warm sun by the pool!

Here is the evidence that we enjoyed the beach as well! The kids loved digging and created tons of drip castles, but the water was too cold to really play in. This area of Florida has TONS of shells on the beach and we ended up with quite the collection, as you will learn in the next post!

We decided to forego naps each day in the hopes of early, easy bedtimes...but this sweet girl couldn't keep her eyes open before dinner on a few occasions!
